Self-Portrait: October 29, 2007

My family didn't think the 30-minute self-portrait looked anything like me. Now I'm putting more time into the painting to see if I can meet their approval. So far I reworked the background, the arms and the eye area.
After doing the background, I realized that I used the wrong red in mixing the purple. I will redo that. I use a very limited palette: a red, a blue, a yellow, burnt sienna and white. Out of these five colors, I can create any color I want. Keeping to a limited palette makes the whole painting more cohesive. For this painting, I am using quinacridone red, ultramarine blue, hansa yellow medium, burnt sienna and titanium white in Golden fluid acrylics.
